Vallåsskolan is a K-9 school with approximately 700 students located in the central parts of Halmstad.

At Vallåsskolan, we all share a common responsibility for the safety of our students and for ensuring they reach their full potential in their development and learning. We collaboratively develop our teaching to enhance goal fulfillment, safety, and study environment. We have a student health team consisting of principals, special educators, counselors, school nurses, study and career counselors, and integration coordinators. The student health team works closely with the working teams to develop an accessible learning environment for all students. We also have access to central student health services with a school psychologist and school doctor.

Your Responsibilities

As a special educator, you will take overall responsibility for the special education work in the organization, primarily focusing on grades K-3. You will work closely with the management on school development, follow-up, and evaluation of assessments and special support. You will also be an important sounding board and support for our resource organization. You play a vital role in collaboration with management, other staff, and guardians. You are expected to be an active participant in developing accessible learning environments for all students.

You will take overall responsibility for the entire process regarding extra adaptations, special support, and action plans. You will develop the school's student health work together with other professionals in student health. You are expected to lead and hold meetings with guardians and students. We want you to influence our ongoing work to develop Vallåsskolan into an even better school.

Your Qualifications

You are a qualified special educator/special teacher with a primary school teacher education and experience teaching in lower grades. You have clear ideas about how students in need of special support can optimize their development and learning and can implement them in practice. You meet students based on their needs and realize that you, together with your colleagues, are responsible for their success. You are aware that your approach affects your surroundings and adapt it to different situations and conditions.

You need to have excellent collaboration skills, be flexible, and communicative. You are comfortable in your role as a special educator and aware of the challenges that may arise due to various needs and issues in the school environment. You are confident in contributing your perspectives and knowledge in meetings with students, guardians, and colleagues. You see the opportunity to work together with students, guardians, and colleagues to address the challenges that need to be managed.

If you are offered employment within the Child and Youth Administration, you are required to present a clean extract from the Police Criminal Records for work in schools/preschools. The extract is free of charge and takes about 2-3 weeks for the police to process. Therefore, order it in good time!
